Getting started

BorgLayer works from your crypto wallet, there is no separate account to create. To begin, open the app and connect a wallet that holds USDC on the Base network. Signing in is a one-time signature; it costs nothing and proves you own the wallet.

Public tools like WHOIS lookup and domain appraisal work without connecting anything. You only need a wallet with USDC when you are ready to buy something, a domain, a hosting plan, or a DAO formation.

What you need: a wallet (such as MetaMask or a compatible mobile wallet), some USDC on Base to pay for services, and a small amount of ETH on Base for network fees when you transact on-chain.

Domains & DNS

Start at Domain Search. Type the name you want and BorgLayer checks availability across many extensions in real time, showing the yearly price for each. When you find one you like, register it and pay in USDC, the domain is yours.

Every domain you register through BorgLayer automatically gets our authoritative nameservers and a live DNS zone, so you can start managing records immediately. Open a domain's DNS editor to add or edit A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, NS, SRV, and CAA records. Changes to existing zones take effect quickly with no manual reload.

Already own a domain elsewhere? You can point its nameservers at BorgLayer to manage DNS here, or bring it in and verify control with a TXT record.

Tip: use the WHOIS Domain Lookup to check any domain's registrar, creation and expiry dates, status, and nameservers before you buy or transfer.

Domain appraisal

The Domain Appraisal tool estimates what a domain is worth. Enter any domain and BorgLayer returns four market scenarios, Investor (most conservative), Flow (a faster marketplace sale), End User (what a motivated business might pay), and Premium / Moonshot (upper strategic potential), all in USDC.

Below the four values you will see a full breakdown of the factors that drove the estimate: length, extension, keywords, meaning, and market comparables. The engine recognizes that short, meaningful names on strong extensions are far more valuable than long or random ones, and it benchmarks well-known premium domains against real market data.

Marketplace

The Domain Marketplace is where you buy and sell domains with on-chain escrow. Escrow protects both sides: the buyer's funds are held safely until the domain transfer completes, so neither party has to trust the other.

Buying: browse listings, check a domain's details (and run an appraisal if you want a second opinion on price), then purchase through escrow. Selling: list a domain you own, set your price in USDC, and the marketplace handles the escrowed transfer when a buyer commits.

Hosting & servers

BorgLayer gives you real infrastructure, not just domains. With VPS Hosting you get your own virtual server; each Starter plan includes 5 websites with free SSL, databases, and subdomains. Your sites run on infrastructure you control, paid in USDC.

If you run hosting for others, Server Administration lets you manage your VPS nodes and the hosting accounts on them. Register a node, run its installer, then create accounts for your customers, a full control panel for operating your own hosting business.

Email & mailboxes

Create real email accounts on your domains from the Email area. Each mailbox can send and receive, and works in the built-in webmail or any mail app using the mail server mail.borglayer.com. BorgLayer configures SPF, DKIM, and DMARC for your domain so your mail is properly authenticated.

For applications, the Transactional Email API lets you send email from your verified domains programmatically. Create an API key, then POST to https://api.borglayer.com/api/emails. It is ideal for receipts, notifications, password resets, and other automated messages, all DKIM-signed from your own domain.

DAO formation

BorgLayer can form a real, state-recognized Wyoming DAO LLC for your organization, entirely from your wallet. Start at Launch a DAO, choose your organization's name, provide a contact, and pay the all-inclusive fee in USDC.

We prepare your Articles of Organization, include a registered agent in Wyoming, and file with the Wyoming Secretary of State. Formation creates a dedicated organization for your DAO, separate from your personal account, with its own dashboard to manage members, run governance proposals and votes, and coordinate a treasury.

A Wyoming DAO LLC gives a decentralized organization real legal standing while keeping its on-chain, member-governed nature. Because this involves forming a legal entity, review the details with your own advisor where appropriate.
